FC Kansas City Partners with Huw Williams and GSI Sports

By Brad Likens 03/27/2018, 4:15pm CDT

FCKC is proud to announce a partnership with GSI Sports

FC Kansas City is proud to announce a partnership with GSI Sports.   Starting in May, GSI Sports will run the business operations of the club.  Huw Williams, co-owner of GSI Sports, with assume the role of Executive Director for the club.  Between now and May, Huw will be working with the club’s Directors to identify our strengths and weaknesses and to get plans organized for next year prior to tryouts.

Having GSI’s background in running soccer operations will be a huge benefit to the club, and the club will have special access to the myriad of local and regional camps and tournaments that GSI has been so successful establishing over the past two decades.

Huw has been instrumental in developing soccer in the Kansas City community over the past 30 years, and he is the cornerstone of Kansas City’s rise to the designation as the “Soccer Capital of America”.  According to Huw, some of his first initiatives with the club will include:

  • Creating a consistent club-wide structure within each Region.  Each Region needs to look the same, have the same feel, and offer the same programs – as opposed to a loose collection of teams wearing the same uniforms.  The structure, culture, organization and experience must be consistent.
  • Addressing and growing “Futures” programs in each Region
  • Creating a club developmental pathway  with clearly identified outcomes for each age group with specific skills and tactical elements our players will be expected to accomplish at specific age groups.
  • Securing Facilities to suit the local needs of our Regions and for our elite player program
  • Introducing innovative programming we can offer to help develop our players and to create a positive experience.

We are honored to have Huw on board, and look forward to continuing to develop our club as one of predominant in the Midwest.
