KC Athletics Spring In-Club Kick Arounds

Players from outside the club can attend as long as they have a Permission To Train form signed by their current club coach.

USYSA Tryout Schedule (non-ECNL teams)
2001-2009 Birth Years
June 8-9, 2019
2010 and younger
June 7-9, 2019
Q. Does it Cost to Tryout?
A. No, but you do need to register for all tryouts.
Q. What if my player cannot attend any of the scheduled tryouts?
A. Please contact your area representative to assist you in coordinating and communicating with potential coaches for your player. Attending one of the pre-tryout camps would be a great option if your player is unavailable during tryouts. If attending a pre-tryout camp instead of tryouts, please let the coach at the camp know, in addition to contacting your area representative so your player can get the most out of the camp experience. Also, complete the online tryout registration, to ensure your player remains on the list of potential players.
Q. What if they can only attend one of the scheduled tryouts?
A. Each age group will have a coordinator assisting the coaches. If you attend day 1 of the tryout, but cannot attend day 2, please have your player communicate this information with either the coaches on the field or the age group coordinator so that the coaches are aware of the situation. If you have a player that is too young to communicate with the coaches, please try and catch the coordinator or coach after the tryout is finished to let them know. It’s always best to attend both scheduled tryouts, if at all possible.
Q. How will I be contacted to know if my player has a spot?
A. Your player can be offered a spot immediately at the tryout or the coach will be making phone calls, emails and texts throughout the day and evening once tryouts are completed. If you have not heard anything within 24 hours, please contact your area representative.
Q. How do I sign up for tryouts?
A. Please use this link. You will need a passport-style photo of your player to upload. Please make sure that the photo is a current headshot including only the player, so that the coaches can identify each player on their printed tryout list. (no siblings, parents, etc. in the photo)
Q. If I already have a Sports Engine account, do I need to create another one to register for tryouts for 2019-20?
A. No, you will login with your already established account. You can use the same Sports Engine account even if you use it for another sport so that everything is under one account for your convenience. Just make sure that you add the player you are registering to your account, if that child is not already listed.
Q. Do I have to sign up for tryouts online?
A. Yes, all players need to register for tryouts online. This will make checking in at tryouts easy and fast, and ensure the coaches know how to contact parents. If you have not signed up prior to coming to the tryouts, there will be someone to assist you in registering online at the tryout site.
Q. Can I try out for a specific team?
A. Our tryouts are set up by age groups for the coaches to evaluate and place each player on the roster that best fits the level of play for that player. U13 and older players are asked during the registration process if they plan to try out for an Academy team and also which region they live in so that coaches can connect players with teams that best suit them. The only exception is for our girls Academy Elite tryouts. All girls that show up for Academy Elite tryouts are assumed to be interested in playing on an ECNL team, if they are selected. Age groups U12 and younger will tryout within the region where they live, and placed on an appropriate level team within that region. These younger age groups are not involved in Academy.
Q. Should I be at every tryout for my age group?
A. If possible yes; this gives the coaches more time to evaluate your player. Even if your player is offered a spot the at the first tryout and you accept it, we would love to have your player back to get to know more of the players and coaches.
Q. What do I need to bring to tryouts?
A. All players should bring an age-appropriate size soccer ball, shin guards, and plenty of water. Sunscreen is also a good idea.
Q. How do I accept my offered spot?
A. You will convey your acceptance to your coach in person or via email, text or phone. After tryouts are finalized, you will be given a link to register for that specific team and accept your spot by paying your club registration fee and setting up your payment plan for the season.
Q. After tryouts, what’s next?
A. As soon as teams are finalized, the team admin that will reach out to the team to introduce him/herself and get everyone started on uniform ordering, ensure players are registered, and will update players and parents on all information for fall as soon as it comes available. Training generally starts the first week of August, and most league games will begin the first weekend of August.
